“I started working for IDS in May of 2003. In September of the same year, my mother (who lives in Hawaii) had an unexpected hip replacement surgery and needed my assistance during the recovery stage. Since I had earned only 34 hours of PTO, my plan was to go for 11 days (taking advantage of the weekends) and got approval for 24 hours of advanced PTO. While I was there, my mom developed complications and was not getting well in the timeframe expected. I was granted 110 hours advance PTO so I could be with my mom. My mom and I are very grateful. I will never forget that IDS took a chance on me by approving the advanced PTO. I am going on my 5th year with IDS and I have always felt like a part of the team. Thank you IDS.”
